LAHORE: The 9th Day of the Winter Meeting 2025–26 at the Lahore Race Club promises a compelling day of racing action on Sunday with the Term Cup Race for 2-Year-Old Thoroughbred and Half-Bred (TBP & HB) horses taking center stage.
This maiden event, featuring six debutants, is expected to shape the early contenders for upcoming prestigious cup competitions and has drawn considerable attention from racing enthusiasts and breeders alike.
The Term Cup, scheduled as the sixth race on a seven-race card, features Farrier Star, Sher Khan, Without Deliverance, Maverick, Sikander, and Samara—all making their first competitive appearance. With no declared favourite, the race is wide open, offering a glimpse into the future of Pakistan’s juvenile racing circuit.
The day begins with three maiden races, each offering its own intrigue. The first race, Class VII Division VI & VII (Maiden), includes 12 participants, with Haseeb Barbarian’s tipped as the favourite, Pakiza for place, and Stalker as the fluke. The field also features Azan Prince, Majesty, Fateh One, Lex Lugar, Baghli, Sher Dil, Good Boy, True Love, and Moj Mela.
The second race, also Class VII Division VI & VII, has 10 runners, led by favourite Shahan Shah, with Gennie expected to place and Zindagi as the fluke. Other contenders include Chika Rika, Leo Star, Silent Melody, American Star, Anni Power, Moon Princess, and Majesty.
In the third race, Class VII Division V, Safe Bet is the favourite among eight participants, followed by Rayaan Prince for place and Zain Prince as the fluke. The remaining field includes Black Fire, Pocket Power, Mr. Asia, Mr. Brown, and Haseeb Thrill.
The fourth race, Class VII Division II (Maiden), is an open contest with no clear favourite among its eight runners: Golden Star, Seven Star, Bellatrix, Pretty Girl, Tez Tareen, Specialist, Waqat, and Princess Barcelona.
The fifth race, Class VIII Division I (including Class VI Division IV), covers a distance of approximately 1000 meters. New York City leads the betting charts, with Moshi Queen for place and King Azan as the fluke. Other entries include Quality Street, Desert Crown, Dominus, and Haseeb Thunder.
The seventh and final race, Class VII Division II, III & IV, features six participants, with Kit Kat as the favourite, Fairy World for place, and Talent as the fluke. The rest of the field includes Haseeb Thunder, Yesteryear, Haseeb Warrior, and Black Magic.
