A newlywed woman succumbed to a gunshot wound sustained while filming a TikTok video in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on Saturday.

According to police, 22-year-old Farzana was critically injured in a shooting incident inside her home in Pahlwan Goth on Friday. She succumbed to her injuries during treatment at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

The police said Farzana’s husband, Ghulam Mustafa, had been arrested for allegedly shooting her. A 9mm pistol, believed to be the murder weapon, was recovered from his possession. The firearm was unlicensed and reportedly purchased from Kashmore.

Investigators revealed that Farzana and Mustafa were recording a TikTok video when the tragedy occurred. Farzana, herself an active TikTok user, allegedly placed the pistol against her temple and asked her husband to pull the trigger, believing the gun was unloaded. However, when Mustafa pulled the trigger, a bullet was discharged, striking her in the head and killing her instantly.

The police added that the couple had married in September, with their formal wedding ceremony yet to take place. Mustafa, who worked as a painter, told investigators the shooting was accidental.

Farzana had arrived in Karachi a few days earlier with her mother and sister from their hometown, Kandhkot, for leisure. Her mother had returned to Kandhkot two days before the incident. The police informed the victim’s family, who are on their way to Karachi, and said a formal case would be registered once her mother arrives. Officials also clarified that earlier reports suggesting a robbery attempt were false. The case was now being investigated as a negligent shooting that occurred during TikTok video filming.
