For fans of comic book mythology/pop culture, there is no event quite as memorable or inviting as Comic-Con. Unfolding in San Diego, the geek fest has seen participation from over 100,000 people this year including prolific stars from both cinema and television.

Though there were many, many OMG moments including scores of new trailers and riveting panel discussions, the biggest of them was the remarkable appearance of one Benedict Cumberbatch.

Fans of the actor were treated to a dual special as the teaser trailer of the fourth season of Sherlock and new footage from Marvel’s Doctor Strange were unveiled. For both screenings, Cumberbatch was present alongside the project’s respective team.

The ominous new trailer for Sherlock sets up the mood for what could be the last season of the global hit series. Actor Andrew Scott, who returns as arch-nemesis Moriarty, opens the scene buts it’s a dishevelled Sherlock Holmes against a hospital backdrop that will take your breath away. The words, “something’s coming” in Holmes’ voice add more punch in what could be the grittiest season yet. And yes, Holmes’ demons come undone.

The second Benedict Cumberbatch moment arrived with the launch of the second trailer of Marvel’s Doctor Strange. While the first one, released weeks ago, gave us an introduction to the central characters – Stephen Strange and the Ancient One – played by Cumberbatch and Tilda Swinton respectively, the new trailer takes us further into the journey as Strange learns to become the magical one, guided by the Ancient One. The reality shifts and the Nolan-esque vibe from Inception only makes the scenes more riveting. The trailer is darker than its predecessor and also gives room to other actors like Mads Mikkelsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Rachel McAdams.
