KHAR: Tunnels and trenches dug by militants were found in several houses vacated by residents in recent military offensive against terrorists in Mamond tehsil in Bajaur tribal district, sources said. According to sources, militants had constructed secret tunnels and trenches inside local houses, which they used for storing weapons and as hideouts. From these houses, they added, the militants carried out organised attacks against the security forces and the people. The sources confirmed that security forces, during operation, recovered these tunnels along with large stockpiles of arms and presented them before people as evidence. They claimed militants were targeting civilian population in a bid to provoke local residents against the law enforcing agencies during the recent operation in Bajaur.
