ISLAMABAD: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has transferred its ambassador for Pakistan Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al-Zaabi to Egypt. He is replacing Mariam Khalifa Juma Muhammad Al-Kaabi in Egyptian capital, who has completed her tenure in Cairo. Highly placed diplomatic sources told The News here on Wednesday that the UAE government has designated Salem Muhammad Al-Zaabi as the new ambassador for Pakistan who will be here on his first ambassadorial assignment. The UAE government has sought agreemaunt (Consent for appointment) from Pakistan government for the new envoy.
Interestingly, Pakistan has also transferred its ambassador for the UAE Faisal Niaz Tirmizi. He has been designated ambassador for Russia while Additional Foreign Secretary Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan has been appointed as the new ambassador for the UAE. It is likely that new ambassadors in Islamabad and Abu Dhabi will assume their new respective assignments in October this year.
The UAE’s outgoing ambassador served for nine years and worked hard for strengthening ties between the two brotherly countries.
