Islamabad:Ali Raza Qazi, an ex-army officer, has officially taken charge as the Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) for Islamabad.
His appointment brings a blend of extensive military and police experience to the capital’s law enforcement leadership. Prior to his police service, Qazi served for nine years in Army. His dedication to national security was highlighted by a distinction certificate he received for his participation in the critical Operation Zarb-e-Azb.
Qazi holds a Master’s degree in International Relations. He has previously held key operational and administrative positions within both the Balochistan and Punjab police forces, contributing to diverse policing environments across the country.
In his introductory meeting with all SDPOs and SHOs, SSP laid out a clear agenda. To immediately address crime and public safety concerns, he issued the following stringent directives to his units: Ensure the immediate arrest of criminal elements without exception; Launch a focused drive to apprehend absconders, habitual offenders, and those involved in serious crimes; Launch a robust crackdown against active motorcycle and car theft gangs; Patrolling must be made more effective and purposeful, with all units remaining visible in the field to deter crime; Guarantee the swift arrest of those involved in illegal weapons, arms display, and drug trafficking.
“Protection of citizens’ lives and property is my top priority,” he stated. He stressed that all available resources would be utilised to ensure the rule of law and the elimination of crime.“Disturbance of public peace will not be tolerated,” he added, signaling a zero-tolerance approach to maintaining public order.
