Princess Anne avoids Andrew questions during historic ceremony in Sydney

Princess Anne is currently in Australia, accompanied by her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, for a four-day visit to represent the royal family to mark a poignant event.

The Princess Royal arrived in Sydney on Saturday and has been undertaking engagements from the get-go. As King Charles geared up to lead the events to honour the fallen soldiers in the UK, his loyal sister visited the Anzac Memorial in Hyde Park in Sydney, Australia, to mark Remembrance Day on Sunday.

The 75-year-old royal, who is also the Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals, was greeted by dignitaries including the Governor General Sam Mostyn, Governor of NSW Margaret Beazley and Chief of the Army Lieutenant General Simon Stuart, among other senior veterans.

She marked the 100th anniversary of the Royal Australian Signal Corps at a garden party and spoke of her hopes for enduring peace during a special Remembrance Day service.

She also spoke to senior veterans and their families outside and during one of the encounters, Anne found herself in a tricky spot.

James Thorpe, of the Royal Australian Regiment Association (RARA), brought up one of Anne’s brother in conversation to which the royal gave a measured response.

“Which one? I have three,” Anne asked stoically. To which James answered, “Ah, that’s the main one, ma’am,” referencing to the King.

It was then when the Princess appeared relieved and let out a hearty laugh.

The royal family has been making efforts to finally put behind the Andrew chapter by shifting the focus on royal service and engagements rather than family issues.

Previously, Prince William also smartly manoeuvred around the question about his disgraced uncle, Andrew, during his Brazil visit, pivoting the conversation back to the Earthshot Prize.
