Dakota Fanning has unveiled a rare insight about getting a special birthday gift every year from Tom Cruise.
The duo worked together in 2005 alien invasion film War of the Worlds in which Fanning played Cruise’s daughter.
The Uptown Girls star revealed that the Mission: Impossible star started a tradition when she was 12.
According to Dakota, Tom knew that she loves shoes and how excited she was to finally reaching to an age of fitting into adult sized shoes.
Therefore, he started a tradition of gifting new shoes and he has been maintaining this practice for two decades now.
Fanning says that the Top Gun: Maverick star sends her a pair of new shoes as annual birthday gift.
During an interview at the Today show, the Primetime Emmy Award nominee stated, “He sends me beautiful shoes, it’s a tradition that started, I think, on my 12th birthday.”
“I loved shoes, and I just had started fitting into adult-sized shoes, and so I was really excited about it. And so for that birthday he gave me shoes, and he’s kept the tradition going for 20 years.”
Host Craig Melvin asked Dakota out of curiosity what kind of does Cruise gift her “Louis Vuitton? Prada?”
Fanning simply replied saying “nice. He’s got good taste.”
Her collaborative project with Tom was directed by Stephen Spielberg. It also featured Justin Chatwin, Stephaine Finochio and Tim Robbins.
