LAHORE:The Punjab Assembly on Private Members Day unanimously passed a resolution for including blood group detail in Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs). The resolution was moved in the House by MPA Ahmad Iqbal Chaudhry.

According to the text of the resolution, timely availability of blood group information can help save hundreds of lives in accidents and emergency situations. It stated that hospitals and blood banks often face difficulties in providing assistance when a patient's blood group is unknown. By including blood group information on national identity cards, blood banks will be able to supply suitable blood to patients on time.

The text also mentioned that Zafarwal Blood Society had initiated this proposal to highlight its importance in the public interest. The House called upon the federal government and Nadra to take steps to include blood group information as a part of the CNIC.

The PA also unanimously passed a resolution regarding measures to curb smog and seasonal diseases. The resolution was presented by MPA Fatima Begum. According to the text of the resolution, the current weather conditions and rising smog levels have severely affected public health. To control the spread of smog and seasonal illnesses, it was proposed that markets should close by 8pm and wedding halls by 10pm at the latest. It further noted that keeping shops open late at night leads to unnecessary crowding and disorder, which contributes to the rapid spread of diseases. Closing markets by 8pm would be a better decision in the public interest, the resolution concluded.

A resolution praising the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia defence agreement was also unanimously adopted by the assembly. The resolution was presented by Shagufta Faisal.'We pay high tribute to the political and military leadership for the defence agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia signed on 17 June, 2025,' the text read.

'It noted that Pakistan has recently humbled the enemy and demonstrated its strength on the world stage,' the text added. The House paid tribute to PM Shehbaz Sharif's tireless efforts and Field Marshal Gen Asim Munir's good intentions and military strategy.
