Prince Harry baffled by Hasan Minhaj's question on Taylor Swift, Charli XCX

Prince Harry appeared to be a bit out of his depth as he made a surprise appearance on Hasan Minhaj's latest podcast episode.

The TV presenter opened the show with a question about an alleged feud between American pop superstar Taylor Swift and Charli XCX, leaving Harry baffled with his unexpected query.

The Duke of Sussex seemingly stumbled for words as Harry's usual confidence was momentarily shaken by a burning question, relatedt to the music world.

It all happened when Harry took the hot seat on Hasan Minhaj's Doesn't Know podcast on October 29. The host fired off a loaded question, asking: "This one's heavy, Harry. What do you think of this Taylor Swift, Charli XCX beef?"

"The what? Oh no," Harry replied, looking genuinely stumped. The prince glanced off-camera as if searching for help, eyebrows raised in confusion, before breaking into an awkward laugh — a reaction that made it pretty clear he had no idea what the interviewer was talking about.

Minhaj explained to the Duke, who was not ready for the question, "No, this is serious. Cause was Charli's diss track even a diss track? I mean, to me, 'Sympathy is a Knife' was about something completely different, but then Taylor comes back, and I think escalates it, with the 'Actually Romantic' thing."

"And I'm kind of thinking to myself, 'Is this fair? Or did Charli draw blood and Taylor had to respond?" he continued.

Harry was still quiet, prompting Minhaj to interject, "Sometimes I think, where do we go from here, you know?"

"Well," Prince Harry said before a laugh.

Harry's podcast moment came the day after his wife, Meghan Markle, jammed to Swift's Life of a Showgirl song "Opalite" just before the latest launch from her As ever lifestyle brand.

According to a logline, Minhaj and Harry dive into how the Duke of Sussex is settling into life in America, the danger of making the same mistakes between the A.I. boom and advent of social media and "what a guy has to do around here to get knighted."

In a clip shared on Instagram, the comedian asked Harry if he could mimic an American accent — and Harry gave his best attempt, accompanied by banter about ordering breadsticks with ranch at Applebee's.

Was it Prince Harry's First Podcast Appaearance?

The Duke of Sussex previously was a guest on LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman's Masters of Scale podcast, journalist Bryony Gordon's podcast and Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert.

The Duke and his wife Meghan also joined the Teenager Therapy podcast together in October 2020 to mark World Mental Health Day. The royal also spoke of his podcast hosting skills after the couple announced a multi-year partnership between Spotify and their production company Archewell Audio in 2020.

Which of Taylor Swift's song allegedly targeted Charli XCX?

The song, 'Actually Romantic' from Taylor Swift's new album The Life of A Showgirl, is about an unnamed fellow popstar. It gave fans reason to speculate that it's a Charli XCX diss track.

Music lovers, who follow Swift, belive this is a response to Charli XCX's song, Sympathy is a Knife, from her Brat album, which the 33-year-old allegedly wrote about Swift.

What is 'Sympathy Is a Knife' about?

Charli XCX delighted fans with her Brat album in 2024. Many of the tracks, like 'Girl, So Confusing,' explained her relationships to fellow female artists.

One of the strongest examples of this was track three: 'Sympathy Is a Knife'.

In the song, Charli sings about an artist who is bigger, confessing that she often feels like she’ll never be able to compare.
