Prince William is reportedly unhappy with the compromise that allowed Prince Andrew to retain his Duke of York title despite stepping back from royal duties.
According to The Daily Mail, the heir is “deeply unhappy with what he sees as a bodged agreement on Andrew” and is said to be preparing to take swift action once he ascends the throne.
Royal author Tom Sykes told the outlet, “He wants him out and he is likely to do this as soon as he can.
Almost as soon as he becomes King, William is planning to formally banish Andrew from the Royal Family.”
Though Prince Andrew voluntarily gave up the use of his title, he has not been stripped of it entirely something William appears determined to correct, signaling a major shake up in the royal hierarchy once the future king takes the throne.
Sources suggest The Prince of Wales is also exploring whether he can legally remove Andrew from Royal Lodge, the Windsor home just miles from the Waleses’ new residence at Forest Lodge.
Royal author Tom Sykes told Mail that while Andrew is “almost certainly going,” William is also considering a broader streamlining of the royal family."
“As King, William would immediately strip the Duke of his title. But he might also consider removing the titles from a number of others.
He is looking at the whole family and wondering if it should be streamlined and if so how. Currently, no decisions have been made beyond one, Andrew is almost certainly going.
The question of potentially trimming others is still in its early stages of discussion,” he said.
