Deadbeat by Tame Impala: The Australian act’s fifth album; comes after The Slow Rush (2020); includes the singles ‘End of Summer’, ‘Loser’, and ‘Dracula’.

Movies

Frankenstein (starring Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, Felix Kammerer, Christoph Waltz) – sci-fi horror, based on Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel; an egotistical scientist (Isaac) brings a monstrous creature (Elordi) to life.

Good Fortune (starring Seth Rogen, Aziz Ansari, Keke Palmer, Sandra Oh, Keanu Reeves) – supernatural comedy; an angel (Reeves) body swaps a struggling man (Ansari) and his wealthy employer in a failed attempt to prove that money doesn’t solve one’s problems.

The Twits (with the voices of Margo Martindale, Johnny Vegas, Natalie Portman, Emilia Clarke, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Ryan Lopez) – animated musical comedy, based on Roald Dahl’s 1980 children’s novel; two orphans and a family of magical animals try to save their city from a powerful, nasty couple.

Black Phone 2 (starring Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Demián Bichir) – horror, sequel to the 2021 film; a kidnapping victim (Thames) struggles with life after his captivity while his sister (McGraw) starts having terrifying visions.

The Astronaut (starring Kate Mara, Laurence Fishburne, Gabriel Luna, Ivana Milicevie) – sci-fi horror; an astronaut (Mara) believes an extraterrestrial entity has followed her back to Earth.

Marshall Bruce Mathers III

• Born on 17 October 1972 in St. Joseph, Missouri, U.S.
• Is the only child of his parents but has half-siblings.
• Was raised by his mother in poverty after his father abandoned the family when Eminem was a baby.
• Began rapping under the name M&M – which later evolved to Eminem – in his teens.
• Struggled to find success with his first album, Infinite (1996).
• Started earning some recognition after developing the Slim Shady alter ego.
• Gained the attention of Jimmy Iovine and then Dr. Dre who became his mentor.
• Earned global fame with the release of The Slim Shady LP (1999) and The Marshall Mathers LP (2000).
• Has since released nine more albums, the latest of which is The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) (2024).
• Was in an on-again, off-again relationship with Kimberly Anne Scott – a runaway who (along with her twin sister) stayed with him and his mother – since their teens. They were married and divorced twice, and have a daughter, Hailie Jade (born in 1995), together.
