Matthew McConaughey makes rare comments on working with his son

Matthew McConaughey has recently made rare comments on working alongside his son in a new movie.

Sharing his experience working with 17-year-old son Levi, the Interstellar actor told Today Show, “There was an extra sort of soul to it for me.”

“It felt very professional doing it with him, though,” said the 55-year-old as he talks about his movie, The Lost Bus.

Matthew recalled, “I said, ‘I can help coach you; I can help teach you what I can, but once we show up on the day, I’m not there as a safety net.’”

The Oscar winner pointed out that his son “showed up and he was not looking at me”.

Dallas Buyers’ Club actor revealed that his son worked with the director, and he sat back as a “proud dad”.

Elsewhere in the interview, Matthew shared that his son Levi showed his interest into acting as his career.

“I’m not putting that pressure on him either way. But he’s off to a great start, and he’s in the door,” mentioned the True Detective actor.

Addressing nepotism debate, Matthew noted that Camila and he made sure that his son never feels “entitled” because of his father.

“When Levi read for this role, I sent it to the casting director. She said, 'I think it’s good enough to send to the director,’” he continued.

Later, Matthew disclosed that he “pulled his last name”.

Meanwhile, The Gentlemen actor added that his son got the part on “his own merit” but he offered him some valuable advice on acting as a dad.

“I tried to do my best to teach and coach him, probably over-coached him a couple times… I gave him too much to think about,” concluded Matthew.
