LeBron James ‘Second Decision’ is a Cognac, not a retirement

NBA superstar LeBron James has put an end to days of intense speculation by revealing that his much-hyped “Second Decision” is actually a new business partnership and product launch, not a retirement announcement.

After teasing what he called “the decision of all decisions” on social media, the Los Angeles Lakers officially announced a collaboration with the premium cognac brand, Hennessy.

The highly anticipated announcement, which intentionally mirrored the dramatic buildup of his infamous 2010 televised special “The Decision,” sparked massive rumours that the 40-year-old was finally going to announce his retirement or a final career move.

This speculation even caused a surge in ticket prices for the Lakers’ final home game of the upcoming season.

The suspenseful “Second Decision” was a clever marketing move

However, the four-time NBA champion is not retiring. In fact, his social media post following the reveal included the phrase: “The Decision has been made. Cheers to year 23.”

The “Second Decision” is the official launch of the Hennessy V.S.O.P. Limited Edition by LeBron James, a vibrant orange bottle featuring his signature “crowning” gesture.

The commercial for the new collaboration played on the wording of his original announcement, with James saying:

“This fall, I’m going to be taking my talents to Hennessy V.S.O.P.”

The legendary player’s commitment to continue his NBA career, entering a record-setting 23rd season, was also confirmed in the advertisement with the statement, “I like my decision.”

The suspenseful “Second Decision” was a clever marketing move, confirming that the NBA’s all-time leading scorer will continue to play while also expanding his impressive business portfolio.
