Amid increasing regional tensions and looming threats of World War III, a US Air Force jet was recently spotted circling around Russia, believed to be collecting data on enemy radar systems.
The flight tracking data shared by FlightRadar24 revealed that an RC-135U, a jet designed for intelligence gathering on enemy radar systems, took off from a Royal Air Force station in Suffolk, England, at 2:32 a.m. ET, on Tuesday, September 7.
The flight tracking reveals the trajectory of the plane as it flew over the Baltic states and the Russian enclave between Poland and Lithuania named Kaliningrad and then returned back to the same base in the UK at 9:36 a.m.
The intelligence gathering operation comes after the German Chancellor accused the Russian President Vladimir Putin of waging hybrid war against his country.
He said, “Putin’s war is against all of us. He is waging an information war against us. He is waging a military war against Ukraine.”
Merz’s scathing remarks against Russia came after the latter’s drone incursions disrupted the flight operation at Munich airport leaving 10,000 passengers stranded.
In recent weeks, multiple Russian drone incursions have been reported across several EU and NATO member states.
