A dinosaur stolen from a California gas station has been returned with an apology note that reads, “I am sorry for stealing. Please don’t charge me.”
This interesting development comes amid a heist of a 50-pound dinosaur named Clair that was stolen from a Los Angeles gas station last week.
The video of the heist showed the thief using power tools to remove Clair from its display base and then loading it into a pickup truck before driving away.
The video quickly went viral as it was also shared by actor Jamie Lee Curtis on Instagram, she wrote, “REALLY! Hey, you with your fancy truck, really? You need to steal the dinosaur from in front of the Sinclair gas station? Really? Not cool dude. Not cool!”
However, now NBC News reported citing a clerk at the gas station that they found the dinosaur wrapped in white cloth with a hand written apology note.
Police said no arrests had been made in connection to the incident as of Monday.
The fiberglass dinosaur has built quite a fanbase since its heist as many brought flowers and other items to the gas station to celebrate its return.
Dinosaurs have served as mascots for Sinclair since the 1930s, with the most prominent being the Apatosaurus.
