A skydiving instructor has died in Nashville after he presumably fell from the sky without a parachute.
The Metro Nashville Police Department said on X, “Fire Dept rescuers have just brought down a skydiver who was lodged in a tree with an open parachute in the woods in the 4500 block of Ashland City Highway.”
They added, “Three other skydivers who jumped moments earlier landed safely and the plane also landed safely at Tune Airport.”
The Fire Department also posted on X, stating that their rescue team had safely reached the parachute jumper and assisted him down the ladder.
They said the rescued person was “awake, alert and in stable condition” adding that he will be transported to the hospital as a precaution.
On Saturday, October 4, Police stated that they were unable to locate the 35-year-old instructor. However, in an update on Sunday, MNPD said, “The instructor has been found, deceased, in the clearing of a wooded area off Ashland City Highway.”
According to the Police, the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) will be investigating this fatal skydiving incident.
Most skydiving accidents are caused by human error as in 2024 only 9 out of 3.88 million reported skydives resulted in a fatality.
