Several activists aboard Global Sumud Flotilla in a bid to break the Israeli blockade of the Gaza strip, were detained by Israeli forces while attempting to sail to Gaza.

During detention, the activists experienced the alleged mistreatment and humiliation by Israeli guards.

Earlier this week, around 450 people were arrested and detained when Israeli forces intercepted 42 boats, aiming to break Israel’s naval blockade and deliver humanitarian aid to famine-stricken occupied territory.

Among the people who were taken to detention include Nelson Mandela’s grandson Mandla Mandela, Greta Thunberg, and several European lawmakers.

Hazwani Helmi, a Malaysian citizen, witnessed how Greta was mistreated as she was shoved and compelled to wear an Israeli flag.

Italian journalist Saverio Tommasi said Israeli soldiers deliberately restricted medicines and treated prisoners “like monkeys.”

“This is called torture. It’s called torture, a denial of human rights, even the most basic ones,” he said on his return at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport late Saturday.
