The future king reflects on his and his younger brother's childhood in the public eye

Prince William has some very strong insights about handling the spotlight as he gets dragged into his estranged brother Prince Harry’s legal battle against the media.

The Duke of Sussex is currently embroiled in a legal battle against the Daily Mail’s publisher The Associated Press, alleging privacy breaches dating back up to 30 years. In a shocking twist, the Prince of Wales and his wife Princess Kate have been named as one of the victims of AP, according to The Telegraph.

In written submissions to the High Court, it was claimed that the newspaper group hired private investigators to retrieve Kate Middleton’s mobile phone data for information on Prince William’s 21st birthday party in 2003.

It is not the first time Harry, 41, has taken legal action against a newspaper publisher for breach of privacy. And now, William, 44, has offered his own insights about the subject.

“I understand, in my role there is interest, you have to work with the media, they’re all there,” he said during his appearance on the October 3rd episode of Eugene Levy’s The Reluctant Traveler, according to GB News.

The future king added, “So, you have to have a grown-up sort of situation with it as well. It’s about knowing where the line is and what you’re willing to put up with.”

William made the comment while talking about growing up in the spotlight, especially with the divorce of his parents, King Charles III and the late Princess Diana, which played out very publicly.

Naturally, William explained, this had a long-lasting impact on not only him but his younger brother, whose name he then proceeded to mention publicly for the first time in years.

“We don’t go back to some of the practices in the past, that Harry and I had to grow up in,” William told the Schitt’s Creek actor, per Hello! magazine.

The father-of-three further explained, “Growing up I saw that with my parents. And if you let that creep in, the damage it can do to your family life is something that I vowed would never happen to my family. And so, I take a very strong line about where I think that line is and those who overstep it, you know I’ll fight against it.”
