Imran tells Aleema, Gandapur to stop bickering

RAWALPINDI: The PTI Founder has urgently summoned Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur for a meeting at the Adiala Jail here on Thursday.

Announcing the directive PTI’s Senator Ali Zafar relayed several directives from Imran Khan while speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail on Wednesday. Quoting the PTI supremo, Zafar said Imran has instructed both Gandapur and Aleema Khan to stop making public statements against each other. Addressing speculation, Zafar said that Imran’s urgent summons for the KP CM to Adiala was for a meeting and not a reprimand. He also clarified that there was no discussion of removing the chief minister. He emphasised that while the KP Chief Minister has the authority to make administrative changes but disagreements should not be aired publicly. The PTI founder expressed regret over the public rhetoric, stating that such public accusations benefit their political opponents.

Senator Zafar also confirmed that the founder has nominated Mahmood Khan Achakzai to act as the opposition leader pending the resolution of Omar Ayub’s legal cases. Meanwhile, the PTI founder has reorganised his team of coordinators for legal assistance and meetings. Responsibilities have been withdrawn from Niazullah Niazi and Intezar Panjota, and a new four-member coordinator team has been appointed.

In a related development, Special Judge Central Islamabad, Shahrukh Arjumand heard the Toshakhana II case here at Adiala Jail. The PTI founder was represented by his lawyer, Qousin Faisal Mufti, while the prosecution team included Federal Prosecutor Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi and Barrister Umair Majeed. Mufti completed the cross-examination of FIA Investigation Officer Shahid Pervez. The cross-examination of the final witness, NAB Investigation Officer Mohsin Haroon, is scheduled for completion on Thursday (today). In this case, a total of 20 witnesses have had their statements recorded, with 19 having been cross-examined.

According to prosecution, Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi sold Graff and Rolex watches, diamond and gold jewelry without depositing them first in the Toshakhana. The hearing was also attended by the PTI founder’s three sisters—Aleema Khan, Noreen Niazi, and Uzma Khan—as well as Bushra Bibi’s daughter, son-in-law, and sister-in-law. Senators Ali Zafar and Mashal Yousafzai were also present. The case was adjourned until Thursday (today).
