Google expands affordable AI Plus plan in over 40 countries

Google has reportedly announced the availability of its new affordable AI Plus subscription plan in more than 40 countries including Kenya, Mexico, Angola, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Nepal, Nigeria, Uganda, Senegal, Vietnam and Zimbabwe.

The company first launched its AI Plus plan in Indonesia at Rp 75,000 earlier this month; the specific plan costs around $5 in various countries, and Google says that it is now at a significant discount of 50% for six months in a few locations like Nepal and Mexico.

The Plus tier offers public access to Gemini 2.5 Pro as well as tools for image and video creation like Whisk, Flow and Veo 3 Fast.

Meanwhile users have access to more features on the company’s AI research assistant NotebookLM, can use AI in Gmail, Docs, and Sheets, and get 200 GB of cloud storage simultaneously.

The significant news came a day after OpenAI expanded its ChatGPT Go plan to Indonesia.

Additionally, both companies offer a $20-per-month base plan so they are trying to reach more users with cheaper membership plans in various parts of the world where the base plan can prove costly.
