Taylor Swift’s upcoming movie presents difficult competition for other releases

Taylor Swift has reduced the chance for other movie releases to attract viewers’ attention as it has already generated a revenue of $15M from only presales.

The 35-year-old pop superstar announced her new theatre project, Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, on Friday, September 19, and sent fans wild.

The Anti-Hero hitmaker’s fans experienced a website crash with the overwhelming traffic to get tickets as soon as the movie was announced, but despite hinderances, fans set the mark of $15M for the first day.

According to new reports, Swift’s presales day was the 6th highest in the history of AMC, which has raised the expectation to $30M-$50M for the weekend the movie comes out.

AMC is the same platform the Grammy winner worked with for the Eras Tour movie in 2023, which crossed $180.8M domestic, as well as $267.1M worldwide.

The movie announcement comes after Swifties had been speculating about the project being under works since the end of Eras Tour.

Fans had noticed secret cameras recording the latter half of the record-breaking tour, and a few months later Swift was spotted filming a music video in New York City.

The Lover songstress managed to keep the film under wraps until Friday, and fans are beyond excited to see the documentary.
