Islamabad:The trading community in Islamabad is on high alert and has announced citywide protests after a prominent traders leader, Haji Zafar Rana, reportedly disappeared in broad daylight from the G-9/2 Commercial Area. The incident has sparked a wave of fear and anger among local business owners, who are accusing the police of inaction.
Haji Zafar Rana, the former general secretary of the Traders’ Union of G-9/2, Karachi Company Markaz, was last seen on Wednesday. According to traders, his disappearance has left the community feeling vulnerable and insecure.
A group of local businessmen voiced their frustration with the police, claiming officers have shown a complete lack of interest in the case. They stated that more than 24 hours after the incident, a First Information Report (FIR) had still not been registered, which they believe raises serious questions about the efficiency of the federal police.
"The absence of any senior police officer at the scene and their lack of seriousness in handling the matter reflects a distracted attitude from the police," one trader said. No responsible officer responded this correspondent when contacted to confirm the report. However, a spokesman of the DIG (Operations), confirmed the kidnapping of the trader and said that FIR under kidnapping charges has been lodged with the Karachi Company police station.
