The Internet service by Xfinity showed a massive outage in Northern and Central California on Wednesday, September 10, impacting the daily life of thousands of its customers due to a car accident into a utility pole.
The incident took place at approximately 9 a.m. in Rancho Cordova, and this event resulted in major network destruction that disconnected the Xfinity and Comcast Business subscribers in many communities. Such areas were hit as Clovis, Elk Grove, Fresno, Lodi, Los Banos, Madera, Mendota and Perkins.
Xfinity crews were working late at night at the scene on intricate repairs. Although there were preliminary estimates that there could be a restoration before 7 p.m. Wednesday, the company revised its forecast and the company stated that it was expected to be restored to full service by about 5 a.m. Thursday, September 11.
The company recommended that its customers should look at its official status page to obtain the most up-to-date information.
The incident was contained to the network of Xfinity. Other service providers such as AT&T Fiber, Sonic, Fidium and Optimum were not affected.
