Leonardo DiCaprio has recently opened up about his inspiration behind One Battle After Another character.
The Hollywood actor called his character a “guy that sits home and smokes pot all the time” while speaking to Variety at the movie premiere at TCL Chinese Theatre on September 8.
“I took a lot of inspiration” from Jeff Bridges’ performance as The Dude in 1998’s The Big Lebowski,” said the Titanic star.
Leo shared that the “sedated nature of Bob brought a certain layer of ease to the role, especially when it came to performing the movie’s many stunts, or “a series of failures”.
“We did a lot of crazy stuff in this movie,” remarked the 50-year-old.
However, the Shutter Island actor clarified the difference of what Paul does. It’s different than everything else. He wants to see the dude fall”.
Interestingly, Leo also disclosed that he did go method for the role by smoking up.
Elsewhere in the interview, the actor also shared his experience working with American movie-maker Paul Thomas Anderson.
“I always get nervous first day, really… But by lunch, I’ve kind of locked it in, because, you know, you’re on film, you don’t have time to be nervous,” pointed out the Oscar winner.
Leo mentioned that he’s excited to star in a Paul’s movie, adding, “I would’ve done any movie that he proposed, because he’s that unique and interesting of a movie-maker and that great.”
“But I’m glad I got to do this one,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, One Battle After Another is slated to release in theatres on September 26.
