Prince Harry, who arrived in UK on Monday to attend the WellChild Awards ceremony, received some bad news as he was getting close to a reunion with his father King Charles.
The right-hand man of the Duke of Sussex and a close friend has parted ways with the Invictus Games despite being on the journey with Harry since day one.
According to royal correspondent Alison Boshoff, Harry’s private secretary for five years, Edward Lane Fox, has moved on.
Edward, a former captain in the Household Cavalry, and Harry had been genuinely close friends and he was considered as a “last tie” to the Duke’s royal life. He was also known as the bridge which could bring Harry close to his father once again.
Per the report, Edward, left quietly on February 28, on the same day as another trustee, Patrick Nicoll, who had been on the board since 2018.
While the Sussex Office has not made a statement on the abrupt departure of the key member of the team, a source pointed out that Edward “simply moved on” given a lot of behind-the-scenes matter.
The Invictus charity financial figures show a significant increase in earnings – around £1.6million – but the loss of the important ally is a major blow to Harry.
