Prince Harry may be travelling back to his home country solo but his wife Meghan Markle will be clearly on his mind during an important scheduled engagement.
The Duke of Sussex, who arrived in London on Monday to attend the WellChild Awards, is scheduled for some important meetings with the representatives of his other charities as well including the Invictus Games and the Diana Award.
Harry and Meghan stepped down from their senior royal positions back in 2020 to live an independent life from the firm. Over time, the ties between the Sussexes and the royals had gotten from bad to worse, but after five years of rift, things seem to be heading in the right direction for the King and his estranged son.
While the reconciliation efforts between Charles and Harry appear to be giving some anxiety to the As Ever founder, the Duke has assured that his family with Meghan and their two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will remain a “priority”.
On Tuesday, Harry will be visiting Nottingham, which is where the couple made their first appearance after announcing their engagement in 2017.
“It brings back memories of happier times when we thought they were going to be royal superstars,” royal expert Phil Dampier told The Sun of the visit. “It will be fascinating to see how he is received and comes into contact with the public.”
Previously, former royal correspondent Jennie Bond suggested that it would be “natural” for Meghan to “feel somewhat threatened by her husband being drawn back into the royal circle”.
“I think she would have conflicting emotions about Harry meeting his father, if this is indeed on the cards.”
However, she pointed that the Harry and Meghan would definitely have discussed the prospect before the Duke went ahead with the meeting idea. Bond believes that Meghan and the children will not be directly involved right now for a reconciliation but it is anticipated to come up if all goes well.
