ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) held a protest assembly outside the Parliament House on Friday, rejecting what it termed an “extra-constitutional hybrid system” and announcing its support for the Tehreek Tahaffuz Ayeen-e-Pakistan’s (TTAP) call for a shutter-down strike in Balochistan on September 8. The Punjab government was also criticised for adopting a TikTok approach instead of reaching out to the flood victims to provide much-needed relief.
After briefly attending the National Assembly session, PTI legislators walked out, chanting slogans in favour of their jailed leader Imran Khan, and converged at the gate of the Parliament House to hold informal assembly proceedings. Some PTI leaders and lawmakers delivered speeches, slammed the government and its policies, and a resolution was also adopted on the occasion.
