Melania Trump made a rare public appearance at the White House, urging public leaders to prepare children for the rise of artificial intelligence.
She stressed that AI is no longer a futuristic concept, saying, “The robots are here. Our future is no longer science fiction,” at the White House Task Force gathering on Artificial Intelligence Education, which marked her first appearance since July 13, 2025
“As leaders and parents, we must manage AI’s growth responsibly. During this primitive stage, it is our duty to treat AI as we would our own children: empowering, but with watchful guidance,” she said.
Melania Trump’s presence at the AI education meeting tied in with her “Be Best” initiative, which emphasizes protecting kids’ online safety and promoting their well-being.
Although the first lady hasn’t announced new policy goals for her “Be Best” initiative since her husband, Donald Trump, returned to the White House.
Melania’s recent remarks on AI education suggest she might expand the platform to include AI responsibility, particularly for kids.
Melania Trump has emphasized the dual nature of AI, noting both its potential benefits and risks.
She’s supported initiatives like a presidential AI competition for kids and legislation such as the “Take It Down Act” to protect against deep fakes and revenge porn.
Last month, she posted a video on X; while introducing the Presidential AI competition for school-age children, she said, “As someone who created an AI-powered audiobook and championed online safety through the Take It Down Act, I’ve seen firsthand the promise of this powerful technology.”
Melania Trump’s Thursday event marked her eighth official White House appearance in Trump’s second term, highlighting her relatively low profile and selective engagement as First Lady.
