CDA’s proposed hike in water, sewerage charges rejected

Islamabad: The residents of the Islamabad present at a public hearing here Wednesday at the Convention Center rejected proposed increase in water and sewerage charges by the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

The residents led by Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Islamabad Ameer Nasarullah Randhawa walked out of the public hearing organised by the MCI management as a protest against proposed increase in water and sewerage charges.

Director General Water of CDA Saadullah Zimri who was conducting the public hearing apprised the audience that the authority had decided to raise utility charges after many years.

However, Nasarullah Randhawa said that it was authority of the elected representatives to decide about taxes in a metropolitan and bureaucracy could not take any decision in this regard.
