Prince Harry has faced new conditions ahead of his UK return amid reports of peace talks with his father King Charles III.
The Duke of Sussex must confront his past and agree to key terms in order for his family to welcome him back as any route back into the royal fold will come with strict conditions laid down by King Charles.
"The King has never hidden his affection for both his sons, but he has also stressed that Harry cannot realistically expect a return while he persists with public criticism and constant interviews. What is needed is calm and restraint. If Harry can demonstrate that, there may be a path forward," a royal insider told Radar Online.
The Duke has been estranged from the monarchy since he relocated to the US with Meghan and their children after stepping back from official duties in 2020.
According to a new report, the King's team wants Harry to "draw a line" under his and Markle's repeated attacks on the royals if he wishes to re-establish a relationship with his father.
"It has been made crystal clear to Harry by Charles, if he wants any chance of being welcomed back, he must stop attacking the family in public and ensure his wife avoids further controversy," the outlet claimed citing a royal aide.
However, a recent secret meeting between senior aides to Harry and king Charles has been described as a key development towards peace.
It's also being claimed that the move could thaw the deep freeze between father and son.
The meeting, held at a private members' club in London in early July, is said to have marked the clearest sign yet that reconciliation is on the table.
However, keeping William in the dark about these development could spark fresh tensions within the royal family.
