I recently read your articles ‘Berry wild’ by Hissam Ali and ‘Open Sesame’ by Syed Asif Ahmed in today’s issue of Us (8 August) and couldn’t resist writing in. I found both pieces refreshing. ‘Berry wild’ was a delicious mix of science and everyday life and the part about lab-grown berries and climate-resistant hybrids was fascinating. I think a quick berry-infused skincare hack would have been nice. Having said that, I feel I prefer my berries grown naturally, preferably organic. ‘Open sesame’ took me on an equally tasty journey. Imagine such a tiny seed carrying centuries of history, culture, and health benefits.

Keep up the good work!

Lack of administrative system

Dear Editor,

The University of Turbat lacks an effective administrative system, as evident in the way it handles important matters like summer vacations. Unlike many universities that announce the start and end of vacations well in advance, the University of Turbat often fails to do so. Instead of issuing a formal notice declaring the beginning of the summer break, the administration remains silent and later issues an unexpected reopening notice.

This poor communication causes confusion among students and staff, leaving them uncertain about their schedules. It also reflects a lack of planning and transparency - qualities essential for the administration of any educational institution.

No facilities

Dear Ed,

I want to express my concerns regarding the lack of proper facilities and basic requirements at Awaran College. As a student, I have observed that many essential resources are either missing or not functioning properly, which negatively affects our learning and academic growth. Many classrooms are not well-equipped, with several fans and lights out of order, and there is no proper arrangement for clean drinking water. The library infrastructure is outdated, lacking updated books, and there are no science lab facilities for practical learning. In addition, the college urgently needs a computer lab and better toilet facilities for both boys and girls.

These shortcomings make it difficult for students to focus on their studies and stay motivated. Every student deserves a proper learning environment, and I request the education department and local authorities to take immediate steps to improve the conditions at Awaran College.
