Petunia, accompanied by her owner Shannon Nyman, was crowned the 2025 “World’s Ugliest Dog” in this unique competition.

Since the contest, Petunia's popularity has been soared and she is heading to make an appearance in New York on August 11.

California has been taking significant steps to organize competitions like World’s Ugliest contests, bringing together a diverse array of unique four-legged friends companions.

It has been observed that for past 50 years, “World’s Ugliest Dog” contest has celebrated canines of all breeds embracing their unique and traditional appearances.

The contest has provided a platform for dogs facing challenges such as no teeth, missing eyes and, deformed legs and given a chance to show off their original beauty.

Moreover, contests support the phenomenon of rescuing dogs rather than utilizing them for the purpose of breeding.

Most of the contestants who attended the event have rescued dogs who came from shelters and puppy mills.

The last year’s winner was Wild Thang, who was 8-year-old Pekingese from North Bend, Oregon, won the title at the fifth position.

After surviving from the viral disease, Wild Thang’s teeth never grew properly which ultimately causes his tongue to jerk outside his mouth.
