Meghan Markle is set for a court battle as her estranged family member sues her for defamation.

The Duchess of Sussex’s half-sister, Samantha Markle, sued Meghan for defamation over her comments in her infamous sit-down with Oprah Winfrey in 2021 with Prince Harry, where she also dropped some major bombshells about the Royal Family.

According to Mirror, a U.S. court has ordered Meghan’s legal team to appear in person at a hearing scheduled for September 9 in Jacksonville, Florida.

The hearing comes after Samantha filed an appeal last year, following the dismissal of her initial $75,000 lawsuit. The 60-year-old originally sued the Suits actress over statements made during the latter’s 2021 Oprah interview and in her 2022 Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan.

She took issue with Meghan’s claims that she “grew up as an only child,” claiming it damaged her reputation and hurt sales of her memoir The Diary Of Princess Pushy’s Sister Part 1.

She also alleged the fallout led her to move homes, avoid public appearances, and face “realistic death threats” and “relentless torment online.”

Although a judge initially dismissed the case, calling Meghan’s statements “substantially true,” Samantha argues the court failed to consider “implied defamation” by omission. And now, she wants her day in court.
