In the tech-driven era, smartphones have become an integral part of life. For nearly three-decades, these pocket-sized digital devices have evolved into lifelines, connecting us to the world, guiding us through maps, managing our work and storing our memories.
Unfortunately, the reign of smartphones is nearing its end, according to Mark Zuckerberg.
The CEO of Meta unveiled in an interview that the wearable smart glasses will overshadow the supremacy of mobile phones.
Mark continued: “I think the trend in computing is to become more ubiquitous, more natural, more social. So you want to be able to interact with the people around you, and I think that’s probably going to be the next major platform after phones.”
Smart glasses: A new tech frontier
For years, the co-founder of Facebook has been promoting smart glasses infused with AI technology, ready to take over the smartphones.
While answering to the question regarding the popularity of tech-driven glasses on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Mark explained: “I think everyone who wears glasses will surely upgrade to smart glasses over the next decade…and a lot of people who are not wearing glasses today are going to end up wearing too.”
The features of smart glasses
The next-gen smart glasses will be new, sleek, and wireless eyepieces, designed to project your world into real-time augmented reality (AR). The coming-age technology will be devoid of touch and any connection with phones.
These glasses will also provide real-time data stream and hands-free navigation, turning your surroundings into an immersive interface.
What Meta has released so far
These second-generation glasses were announced in late September 2023 in partnership with Essilor Luxottica . The Ray-Ban glasses feature a 5-megapixel camera, two speakers and three microphones with no AR.
