LAHORE: Heavy rains and storms wreaked havoc across Punjab, claiming at least 10 lives and injuring 92 people over the past 24 hours, according to Rescue 1122.
In Bahawalnagar, two children, 8-year-old Salman and 10-year-old Saifullah, died when the roof of a madrasa collapsed in Basti Rasheed Kot Manchanabad. Twelve others were injured in the incident. In another accident, 10-year-old Ali Jan died after an electric pole fell on him in Madinah Town, leaving another child injured. Several roof and wall collapse incidents in Basti Noorpura, Chhibyana, and Haroonabad left six more injured.
In Okara, a lightning strike near Head Sulemanki claimed the lives of 16-year-old Anam and 17-year-old Asad, while one person sustained injuries. Roof collapse incidents in villages including 6/4L, 46/D Dipalpur, and 51/2L Gul Mandi left multiple people injured.
In Lahore, 15-year-old Awais and 13-year-old Esha were electrocuted at Barf Khana Stop, Harbanspura. Separately, 20-year-old Faisal Aslam died when a roof collapsed at Sherakot, while seven others were injured in roof collapses in Manga Mandi and other localities.
In Pakpattan, a 4-year-old child, Moin, died in a roof collapse in Chak 85/D, and 13-year-old Haider Ali died when a wall collapsed at Jhandiwala Koh. Several others were injured in separate incidents across the district.
In Sahiwal, over a dozen people were injured in roof collapse incidents across multiple areas, including Chak 137/9L, 73/5L, and Sharif Colony. Elsewhere in Punjab, injuries were reported in Faisalabad, Muzaffargarh, Toba Tek Singh, Kasur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Sialkot and Mianwali due to various storm-related incidents.
