Flawed response

On June 30, what began as a peaceful protest by the Sindh Employees Alliance, quickly turned into chaos as police forces attempted to silence a movement grounded in justice and necessity. Teachers, who dedicate their lives to nurturing minds and shaping futures, stood in unity to ask for what is rightfully theirs: a 70 per cent increase in salaries and pensions. This is a just demand given the extremely high cost of living these days.

The authorities, instead of listening, responded with repression. This is a reflection of deeper flaws in our governance. The state can detain teachers, but it cannot diminish the true and just nature of their cause.
