For as long as Sehar could remember, she had a penchant for jewellery since her childhood. “I always loved putting together jewellery for that perfect look,” reminisces Sehar. Little did she know that this childhood passion would become her business venture.
Always looking for the perfect trinkets, Sehar soon started getting her jewellery customised. Creatively charged as she was, Sehar ended up designing some stunning pieces which were greatly appreciated by all. “When my husband Zafar saw my passion for jewellery designing and the response it evoked from our friends and relatives, he suggested I start my own jewellery business,” shares Sehar.
What started out as jewellery in a simple box has now taken the shape of her signature line – ‘Dahlia’ by Sehar Zafar, being exhibited at her flagship studio in Karachi. It has been two and a half years since the inception of ‘Dahlia’. Sehar has more than ten international exhibitions and numerous national level exhibitions under her belt.
The best thing about her jewellery line is that there’s something for everyone. While her bridal jewellery is a massive hit, so are her bracelets and earrings. Sehar has garnered the reputation of being one of the most creative and affordable jewellery designers when it comes to selecting gifts for loved ones. You are sure to find something within your budget.
Zafar has been an integral part of Sehar’s creative journey. He has been her constant support. Talking about her husband’s support and encouragement Sehar shares a beautiful memory, “For my first exhibition in Dubai, Zafar greatly encouraged me by saying that even if nothing sells just think of this trip as a vacation - a present from me.”
“I have so far exhibited in the USA, Doha and Dubai internationally and Lahore and Karachi. And I have to say that the phenomenal response I received internationally is such an ego booster. These markets are dominated by the Indians and they have no concept of how amazing Pakistanis are. When they see our exclusive pieces, they are astounded by our creativity. It’s an honour exhibiting internationally alongside foreign designers and I feel so proud to be there representing our country,” adds Sehar.
Always wanting to do more, after the success of ‘Dahlia’, Sehar decided to branch out into Dahlia Homes which was recently launched at a cosy affair at her studio situated at Khayaban-e-Shujaat, D.H.A. “Home décor is another aspect of designing that I greatly enjoy. I keep on redoing my home interiors from time to time. So, I started exploring this as a business opportunity as I felt there is a market for home décor items. The turnout was massive and the exhibition a sold out. I wasn’t expecting such an overwhelming response,” elucidates Sehar.
