ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE Faisal Niaz Tirmizi will be moving to Moscow as the country’s new ambassador for Russia.

Tirmizi will replace Khalid Jamali, who has completed his tenure of serving abroad. Tirmizi, fluent in Russian language and after serving earlier in the Central Asian states, would be moving to Moscow upon receipt of his ‘agrément’ from the host country.

Sources told The News here Thursday that the search for Tirmizi’s replacement in Abu Dhabi is under way, and the contenders are Ahmad Amjad Ali, Ali Javaid and Shafqat Ali Khan. The sources said that Pakistan’s current ambassador to Ireland, Aisha Farooqui, has been transferred to Thailand where she will be replacing Ambassador Rukhsana Afzaal. Aisha will also be permanent representative for the UNESCAP at Bangkok.

Both Khalid Jamali and Rukhsana Afzaal will be serving in the Foreign Office upon their return.
