National security and state sovereignty can only be protected if a state has a viable economy, with minimum reliance on foreign debts, except for essential needs. Back in May, Pakistan succeeded in giving a befitting reply to a much larger enemy because of proper coordination and strategy by our security forces. These efforts need to be augmented with a strong economy, instead of one where the affluent can own assets and no questions are asked.
Tax evasion is a crime and a conspiracy against the state and there should be no relief for criminals. An increase in direct tax revenues would give the government fiscal space to offer subsidies for those who need it.
