Prince George, who is the second in line to the British throne, is already being prepared for his crucial position as his parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton, are to take the throne on a “moment’s notice”.
William currently holds the title of the Prince of Wales, which was bestowed to him once King Charles ascended following the death of the late Queen Elizabeth.
It is anticipated that the young prince, who will be marking his 12th birthday this month, will become the Prince of Wales regardless of his age. According to royal protocol established since the 1300s, the royal heir is the only one to inherit the honour.
However, George would not have to wait till the official coronation of his father to take the title, he will receive it almost immediately.
Meanwhile, as for the Duchy of Cornwall is concerned, a similar tradition will be followed for the Duke of Cornwall position.
The Duchy of Cornwall estate was established by Edward III in 1337 as a means to support Edward’s son and heir Prince Edward, known as the Black Prince, and all his subsequent heirs. It has then continued the tradition to William and it is expected to be carried out similar way for George.
However, it is expected that the duchy would be passed down after the official Coronation ceremony has been held.
