Jodie Comer reflects on ’28 Years Later’ filming experience

Jodie Comer looked back on her filming experience of horror/thriller, 28 Years Later.

Set almost three decades after a viral pandemic in UK, killing off majority of population, with most turned into zombies, Comer, played Isla, wife of Jamie (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and mother of their son Spike (Alfie Williams).

In the film she is battling with a serious illness which drives her husband and son to venture the main lands in search of medical help.

In a recent sit down with the GQ Magazine, Comer talked about her experience saying, "It was genuinely terrifying."

"The amazing thing about the infected is that those actors were in makeup, sometimes five hours a day. So when we're running away hysterically, there wasn't much that we had to act. You were just reacting, no kind of green screen," she said.

Comer also shared her amazement over the surprisingly soft nature of "infected" characters in the film.

"I was surprised in a sense that it was present within a horror movie, but not surprised after having met Danny," said Comer.

Recalling what her co-star Ralph Fiennes has said about the director, Danny Boyle, she continued, "Ralph [Fiennes] described Danny as ‘buoyant’, which I think is so true. Someone also described him as a hummingbird, which I was like, again, very good description."

She added, "He's just so invested in every aspect of what's going on, he's having conversations with every creative member. The possibilities are endless with him."

28 Years Later is now running in theatres.
