Duchess Sophie and Prince Edward stepped out to mark their presence at a sombre event on behalf of King Charles.

On July 7, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh attended a memorial service at St Paul's Cathedral to remember the victims of the 7/7 terror attacks.

As per Hello! Magazine, Edward and Sophie joined survivors, bereaved families, members of the emergency services and senior politicians, including Prime Minister Keir Starmer and London Mayor Sadiq Khan, to commemorate the 20th anniversary on Monday.

It is important to note that King Charles released a personal message to mark the 20th anniversary of the tragic event.

The official social media channels of the royal family shared the monarch's statement, in which he extended his "special prayers" and "heartfelt thoughts" to the victims and their families who suffered in the tragic events of 7th July 2005.

Prince William's father further penned, "While the horrors will never be forgotten, we may take comfort from the way such events rally communities together in solidarity, solace and determination."

"It is this spirit of unity that has helped London, and our nation, to heal."

At the end of his note, he said, "As we remember those we lost, let us therefore use this 20th anniversary to reaffirm our commitment to building a society where people of all faiths and backgrounds can live together with mutual respect and understanding, always standing firm against those who would seek to divide us."

Notably, the Edinburghs have been representing the royal family on key occasions since King Charles and Princess Kate's cancer diagnosis.

There are reports that the couple will be given important tasks and roles in the future King William's reign.
