Prince Harry remains estranged from both King Charles and Prince William, yet he has recently expressed a desire to mend fences with his family.
Sources suggest that the Invictus Games, the international sporting event Harry founded in 2014, may offer a meaningful opportunity for reconciliation.
The Mail on Sunday reported on June 22 that Prince Harry has extended what insiders describe as an 'olive branch' by agreeing to invite King Charles and other senior royals to the upcoming Invictus Games in Birmingham, scheduled for July 2027.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told the Express that while the invitation is widely viewed as a hopeful gesture toward reconciliation, it could also place King Charles in a “difficult position.”
“It has been reported that the King, the Duchess of Cornwall, and Prince William will be invited to the Games,” Fitzwilliams explained.
“The then-Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla, and Prince William attended the opening ceremony in 2014, so the fact that Queen Camilla’s 80th birthday falls on the day of the finale seems irrelevant.”
He added, “This invitation, expected to be sent shortly, will undoubtedly be seen as a significant move by the Sussexes to bridge the gap and ease longstanding family tensions.”
