Kate Winslet has been announced as the newest ambassador for The King's Foundation, a charity established by King Charles in 1990 to promote traditional skills education and sustainable community development.
The Academy award winner joins a distinguished group of celebrity ambassadors, including David Beckham, Sienna Miller, Rod Stewart, and Penny Lancaster, among others.
The Titanic star expressed her enthusiasm for the charity's environmental mission, saying, "I am delighted to become an Ambassador for The King's Foundation in the charity's 35th anniversary year. One of my passions is exploring ways that we can protect and promote the natural world - something I have in common with His Majesty!"
She added, "I am therefore thrilled to put this passion into practice by working with the King's Foundation. I look forward to supporting the charity's life-changing work to build sustainable communities and transform lives into the future."
The charity operates across multiple sites in Britain, offering educational programs in traditional crafts and skills at risk of disappearing. Its headquarters are at Dumfries House in Ayrshire, Scotland, and it also serves as custodian of Highgrove Gardens in Gloucestershire and the Castle of Mey in Caithness.
In London, the organisation runs the School for Traditional Arts in Shoreditch and operates facilities at Trinity Buoy Wharf along the Thames.
Kristina Murrin CBE, Chief Executive of the King's Foundation, welcomed Winslet's appointment, saying, "It has been fantastic to get to know Kate, and we are thrilled she was able to spend time with our students, alumni and Royal Founding President at the King's Foundation Awards earlier this month."
Murrin added, "We look forward to working with Kate to promote our work over many years to come."
