According to the Pakistan Economic Survey 2025, there has been a decline of 13.49 per cent in the crops sector. However, the net growth in agriculture remained positive at 0.56 per cent. It merits a mention that growth in agriculture is highly cyclical and that the government has taken significant steps to improve agricultural productivity.
The budget for FY2025-26 includes a tax exemption for fertilisers and pesticides and a clean financing facility programme. More supportive policies at the federal level can help the provincial initiatives and boost overall growth in the agricultural sector.
