Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's proposal to serve as 'part-time working royals reportedly left a Palace insider furious.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex drew global attention when they decided to built their life in California by stepping back from royal duties five years ago.

At the time, the couple surprised royal audience by expressing their wish to take on a part-time role within the monarchy while also striving for 'financial independence.'

In their initial statement the Sussexes added: 'We will continue to collaborate with Her Majesty The Queen, the Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and all relevant parties.'

Actually the couple wanted to clarify that they did not intend to severe ties with the Royal Family entirely, but rather hoped to 'create a processive new role within this institution.'

However, the use of the word 'collaborate' reportedly sparked alarm within royal circles.

A Palace insider told the DailyMail, 'No one collaborates with the Queen. This is not one of those 'Kate Moss Top Shop tie-ups.'

Another source added: 'Her Late Majesty was nobody's fool and knew that the chances were, it would all end in disaster.'

To note, today Harry and Meghan have indulged themselves in high-profile ventures in the United States to sustain their lifestyle, which includes costly private security arrangements and maintaining their luxurious Montecito estate.
