ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday ordered the authorities to appoint NAB’s special prosecutor in a week’s time during the hearing of petitions for suspension of sentence of the founder of PTI and Bushra Bibi in the £190 million pounds case.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case until June 11. A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Sardar Sarfaraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif heard the appeals. Barrister Salman Safdar argued that the petitions for suspension of the sentence were heard, after several prayers and supplications, and that today’s date was not given easily. He said that more than 300 cases have been filed against the founder of PTI and the trial court has sentenced him. Latif Khosa said Imran Khan was in jail without any evidence, but he will cut no deal to go abroad.
Special Prosecutor NAB Rafay Maqsood requested that the federal government had appointed a special prosecutor in this case but the special prosecutor general has not been appointed as yet. He prayed the court to grant four weeks’ time stating that they only received the notice of hearing yesterday. The acting Chief Justice allowed him more time and directed them to notify the appointment of NAB special prosecutor by June 11 and adjourned the hearing.
