Three terrorists killed in Awaran encounter
QUETTA: Four Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were killed in an attack by terrorists on their vehicle on Wednesday.
Rescue sources said unidentified militants ambushed a vehicle of the FC on the Double Road in the provincial capital while it was on routine patrolling. Three FC personnel died on the spot while three others sustained wounds. Another jawan also succumbed to his injuries during shifting to hospital. Two are under treatment in a critical condition.
The attackers targeted a paramilitary patrol vehicle in Quetta and fled after the shooting, authorities said. “Four paramilitary soldiers were martyred and two other soldiers and a civilian were wounded in the firing by unknown gunmen on a motorcycle,” Frontier Corps spokesman Khan Wasay told AFP. Balochistan Home Secretary Akbar Harifal confirmed the incident.
On Tuesday, four policemen were killed in two separate attacks in Quetta. The security forces cordoned off the area after the militants’ attack and launched a search operation but the assailants managed to escape and no arrest could be made.
Meanwhile, at least three terrorists were gunned down on Wednesday in an encounter between security forces and terrorists in the Mashkay area of Awaran district. According to the Levies sources, security forces on a tip-off about the presence of terrorists conducted a search operation in the Mashkay area where terrorists opened fire on security personnel and in retaliation security forces killed at least three terrorists.
The Levies sources said the killed terrorists had an association with a banned outfit. The terrorists were engaged in several criminal activities and attacks at the general public, Levies sources said.
