Braving the heat

In Hub City, the heatwave is intensifying day by day. Amid these difficult conditions, polio workers – especially women – are bravely fulfilling their duties without basic facilities such as transport, cold drinking water or even an umbrella for shade. Recently, I witnessed female health workers going door to door under the scorching sun. Their faces were red and weary, yet their determination remained strong. These brave women are saving our children from polio – a disease that can destroy lives forever. They are doing the job most of us would never do, even for double the money. Sadly, their work is largely overlooked.

They receive little media coverage and their facilities and compensation are often inadequate. Do our heroes deserve this kind of treatment? I strongly urge the government and relevant authorities to take immediate and meaningful action. Provide these health workers with basic facilities. I must also say to the residents of Hub: when a polio worker knocks on your door, treat them with respect and offer a glass of cold water. It is the least we can do.
